Locally sourced electricity and heat
The majority of electricity and district heat sold by Vantaa Energy is generated by the Martinlaakso power plant. The production form is Efficient Power, in which the heat produced in electricity generation is utilised as district heat.
Combined heat and power (CHP) generation utilises the fuel effectively, economically and in an environmentally friendly manner. Recovery of heat produced in CHP generation can increase the efficiency rate of the fuel from the normal 40–50 per cent to as high as 90 per cent.
