Renewable energy from wind and water

Hydropower is the most important renewable energy source of Vantaa Energy. In its production stage, hydropower does not cause greenhouse gas emissions, and therefore it plays a key role in the prevention of climate change. Vantaa Energy owns the small-scale Lahnasenkoski hydropower plant on the River Hiitolanjoki in Simpele. We also acquire hydropower from the large Svartisen and Rana power plants in Northern Norway. These plants get their driving power from the thaw waters of glaciers. Through our associated companies, we acquire hydropower from Finnish power plants located on the Iijoki, Kemijoki, Kokemäenjoki and Tengeliönjoki Rivers.

Vantaa Energy is one of the largest wind power producers in Finland. We have shares in companies specialised in the production of wind power: Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy, EPV Energia Oy and PVO-Innopower Oy. The companies have several wind farms throughout Finland and a number of new wind farm projects under way.

We offer our customers renewable wind or hydro power verified by an outside emissions trading verifier.
