Billing information

Billing based on estimated or actual readings

Electricity bills are usually based on estimated annual consumption. Currently, invoicing based on actual consumption readings is becoming more common as a billing method.

Estimated billing on the previous year’s consumption

Estimated billing is based on an estimate of annual consumption. At the start of the contract, the estimate for billing is based on
• the number of occupants
• the size of the home
• the number of electrical appliances in the home.

Based on the estimate, our customers receive 5 or 11 estimated bills of an equal sum per year, as well as one balancing bill.

After the first balancing bill, the estimate for annual consumption is always based on the previous year’s consumption.

Credit notes with estimated billing

In estimated billing, the customer receives a balancing bill once a year. The balancing bill may also show a negative sum if the customer has consumed less electricity than estimated.

In balancing bills, credit notes of less than EUR 100 are automatically transferred to the next electricity bill under the contract, unless otherwise agreed. Larger sums are credited to the customer’s account via Sampo Bank.

Billing based on actual consumption

The actual electricity consumption is always stated on bills based on meter readings. Some customers in the Vantaa network area already have a remotely-read meter, and they now receive bills based on actual readings.

Vantaa Energy is phasing in customer billing based on actual readings. We will send all our customers a personal notice of the changes.
